This is...my favorite fabric/supplies shop

Our favorite fabric supplies shop is Darn Cheap Fabrics at 1184-1188 Glenhuntly Rd, Glenhuntly. All the materials for this felt portrait of Miss Maisy Brown were found there. And there are a couple of reasons why Maisy, the Bug and I visit them very often indeed:

* It has the best collection of braids and trimmings around. There's a huge and very varied range, and when I browse through them all sorts of project ideas come into my head.

and...

* Until the Bug was 7 months old, he only slept in the day in a moving pram. Darn Cheap fabrics was my favorite walking-distance destination and we visited them at least once a day! Everyone is lovely, knowledgeable and helpful (in fact they came to our rescue when I locked the Bug in the car there recently- whoops!). And a special mention for our friend Lynne, who has always been a smiling face for a weary mummy, and was playing peek-a-boo with the Bug on Friday.

Here's a map

Thank you Handmaiden for this week's theme and ThreeButtons for hosting This Is!

We used to have a darn cheap fabrics in our street (the west) and now it's gone :( no more quick trips when I've forgotten something....

Thanks for the great comments.
Sorry that we have had to close at Newport, but we now have a great little shop in Greville St Prahran called Kis It Better. All gorgeous trims, buttons and bling! You could do the Chapel Street Bazaar, and grab a great coffee all on the one trip.

I used to live just across the road from the Glenhuntly store, and it's still my favourite place to visit when I'm in the area. I used to pop over on a saturday and browse the bargain tables, and dream about all the wonderful things I could make with the trims. I'm browsing my stash right now to trim a hat :)
