We thought our excursion on Melbourne Cup Day would be good clean family fun...
...but there were people jostling for a better view from the grandstand,
people urinating in public,
and people sleeping off their excesses. Honestly folks, it was like a zoo.

For the life of me, I can never get this animal's name right. We always call them "MeekRats" now because I'm a dork. It looks like you had a great time!

Yay! Isn't the zoo TOPS? We find the urge to borrow some friends' children and roam the zoo in a happy little pack making roaring noises about once a year...
i did get the chance to go to the melbourne zoo a few years back and it is a great place...
really well set out and lots of fun for the kids...

The highlight of every Zoo trip for our family are the MeerKats, we're an easily amused bunch. Actually our little dachi does that standing on her back feet thing (very bad for dachshunds I'm told, although shes 16 so not sure how bad)
I watched a programme on Meercats, interesting little creatures.. I used to make that spinach dish all the time.. I need to do it this week I shall indeed and let you know how good your recipe is .. (if I get time!) xx
