Elves from the embers

Hey gang!

Yesterday I was feeling overwhelmed by the devastation of the fires. But now I'm energised and inspired! Why? I went to see Nikki's workshop!

Here's a pile of Rainbow Comfort Packs made by Nikki and her Band of Merry Elves (you know who you are!) on Saturday. The bags will be filled with goodies for the comfort and distraction of kids and families who are dealing with extraordinary stress.

So far Nikki's elves have made over a hundred bags, and with workshops all over the country this project is moving, moving, moving! Well done, elves everywhere! Nikki's published a pattern and instructions if you'd like to make some bags too: here's where to send them.

BTW, there weren't so many things to put in the packs for little babies and toddlers- maybe because it's harder to find safe things for people who put everything in their mouths! I've been trying to think of something to make- hand puppets, finger puppets- any suggestions?

love the bag love...
i remember doing a book out of fabric and sewing cellophane between the pages to make it "noisey" and just put basic shapes on the pages like butterflies and animals...

Babies lobve tags ... I might see if I can find some kind of tutorial for making taggie things. You must be able to make something out of some ribbons and and a bit of fabric!

How funny! It was great to meet you to today, and I found your blog again. As I am reading down, I find a photo of my daughter on it!! We must have crossed paths on that Saturday? Obviously I'm ok with the pic, or I wouldn't have had her there haha. But pretty funny. Yay, i'm in the Thornbury Craft Bonanza, I feel like a celebrity now teehee
