You Know Your Craft Project Is Taking Too Long When... #1

You know your quilting is taking too long when... you finish your baby's cot quilt the day he decides he's ready for his big bed!

Yes! I've finished my first quilt, a quilted cot blanket for the Bug. Thank you to quilt heroes Lynne and Djoymi for quilting tips, and to Taccolina for teaching me how to do the binding. In fact I was so enthused about the binding that next time I'm going to do a cot blanket just with a patched binding.

I can feel a mini-meme coming on... if the topic "You Know Your Craft Project Is Taking Too Long When... " strikes a chord with you, leave your confession here, or blog it and leave me a comment- I'll do a round-up at the end of the week.

It's gorgeous!
I usually know that I've taken too long when it doesn't fit the intended victim (nephew) anymore!

you know it's taken too long when you pull out a crocheted table cloth that is still not finished and you know you started it when your son was born...he is now 20...

Ummm.. I don't know how universal this experience is.... but my three-year-old and I recently finished off a panel-toy I started cutting out when I was about 9 years old. That's thirty-one years ago.

You know your craft project has taken too long when the pins have left little rust marks in the fabric...that was when we lived in the tropics and I put something aside and didn't return to it for a few months.

Yay! My first quilt took me 13 years to finish... if you don't count the 12 and a lot years of inactivity in the middle. It moved houses and countries and now lives on my chair in my bedroom. I'm pleased to say that the rate of completion has picked up since then.

Such a cute quilt! Love all your crafty things I know I've taken too long on a project, cause it's a cross stitch picture that I started about 8 years ago and now I can't find the pattern to finish it!

My Mother would have loved Michelle! She began a crocheted table cloth during her first pregnancy. That was 1951. She worked on it during pregnancy number two, 1957. Then, in 1964 she finally completed the table cloth during pregnancy number three! Baby number three got the table cloth.

Years later she decided that she needed to make a table cloth for daughter number one, and daugher number two. Number one was completed quickly and delivered on schedule.

I'm daugher number two. There was a problem with the pattern. I wanted a round pineapple design.
When it was all said and done what I ended up with was a very large, beautiful doily. :-)

great quilt! I wish I could get Tacca to show me the binding...mine was a bit of a disaster!

I like this meme...you know you're craft project has taken too long when...you are stashing fabric but you still don't know how to sew. Oh dear - you talented folk have inspired me so much I keep buying the fabric but still haven't had any sewing lessons! I have a whole bolt from Ink & Spindle for curtains and we are already past the winter solstice. It could be summer before they are done!

Good lord that was bad spelling! That should be 'your craft project' and 'have already passed the winter solstice'. Sorry about that!
