Hey Jude, Refrain

"Hey Jude" is not my favorite Beatles song. It's monotonous four-minute coda makes my eyes droop and my head nod. Which is why I decided to play it to the Bug on a recent road trip when I wanted him to sleep in the car.

As we pulled out of Apollo Bay I selected the track and put it on a loop.

After an hour, travelling through the Otway Ranges, he was rocking in his seat, happily singing "La la la LA LA LA LA hay joo!".

By the time we got to Geelong we'd changed the track and moved on to "Love Me Do" with two-part harmonies ("No Mummy, I be Paul, you be John!").

And weeks later, in the early hours of the morning, I am often the woken by the strains of "LA LA LA LA hay joo!".

I think this is why it's called a refrain.

Tuppermania

I've gone all Tuppermad after our Tupperware afterno0on tea (plus cocktails!) on the weekend.

Justine from Mixtape was our Tupperware rep, so that was a hoot! As an added bonus she brought along the new addition of Mixtape hot-off-the-press.

Hoppo Bumpo made her famous soon-to-be-award-winning scones, which we ate with lashings of jam, cream, and lemon curd. I made the curd using Jacqui's home-grown lemons, and eggs from my nephew's chooks Spotty and Chickie, who reside in Apollo Bay.

And Jane made chocolate brownies using a secret recipe from her close friend Nigella.

Now what do you think of these lamps? My kitchen is due for a revamp...

I washed the curtains today

....I didn't want this once-in-a-millenium occasion to pass unnoticed.

I also cleaned the windows, but only as high as I could reach from the ground, because if I bring the stepladder out the Bug will follow me up the steps. As it was he clung to my back like a baby gorilla while I cleaned the lower windows.

I've never felt more a part of the animal kingdom than since the Bug came into my life.
