I originally planted the wormwood (Artemesia absinthium) to act as a windbreak, but it ended up covering the face of the sun, so out it came. That puts Mister Bell's plans for an absinthe distillery on hold.
Most of the broccoli has been eaten by the possums again, but I popped an old birdcage over one plant, like an airy pagoda. The Bug was very excited to discover "Our broccoli plant has a broccoli on it!". It's his favorite food, and it's the first time we've got one to eating stage in the garden since he was born.
I weeded the raised beds, and weeded out some coriander accidently- Thai chicken curry for dinner! The last time I made this dish I went into labour, but that didn't happen this time (as I'm not pregnant).

I love growin veggies, but it's too hot here in the desert in the summer. I hope to try a bit of container gardening over the winter.
When I was very young my mother had a small vegetable garden one year. The tomatoes and the green beans were great. The squirels, however, ate most of the corn. My grandmother took a picture of one sitting on our roof having a delicious snack from our garden.
That bird cage is quite a nice feature, and so practical too! I have spent the last few years defeated by possums in the garden, particularly their penchant for herbs. You are giving me new hope : )
It's lovely to get back into the garden after winter isn't it? And fresh coriander, how delish!
It's so vigorous wormword, I planted one when I started my garden and had to rip it out after a year, it was huge. I wish the bluberry, which I planted at the same time was as robust, it's hasn't seemed to grown at all...
I'm not growing any vege right now - the birds, bandicoots and possums are making it impossible. I'm hoping LOML will build me a cage I can stand in and plant the vege in there... someday... x
The birdcage adds a very nice touch!
Our herbs are out of control right now and could do with some accidental pulling out! The veggies aren't in yet, when we eventually get there I'll start blogging!
Brilliant. Fresh corriander is so yummy!
