My Creative Space: Hand-Carved Stamp!

I love printing, especially printing my own designs, and some methods are more accessible than others. This week I made a hand-carved stamp using a plastic eraser, following Chantal Vincent's excellent, easy-to-follow tutorial.

I've carved stamps with a craft knife before, but this time I used a Speedball carving tool. With the Speedball I was able to get a lot of fine details in my flower. It's an Australian native Banksia spinulosa seed pod, or "Banksia man". I'll use it to make a card for my mother-in-law, who's a Banksia nut (or should that be a gumnut?).

Thanks for a great tutorial, Chantal! For more creative spaces, visit host Kirsty here.

Great idea. I like the idea of creating your own stamp instead of having to look for one to suit!

Love it! I'm sure your MIL will think it's great too. I agree, the carving tool makes it lots easier to manage the finer details.

thanks for the link (will pop over and have a look). I've always wanted to make my own stamps. I have made some reasonably 'okay' potato stamps with my kiddos before, which is fun but not very permanent. xxx

The stamp looks great! I tried this using a big piece of rubber for my christmas cards last year and it didn't turn out that great. I have some erasers I plan to carve but I didn't notice when I bought them they have little bumps all over them. Blah.

Thanks for your comments on my post about feeding Zoe. It was nice to know that I wasn't alone. Everything is going much better now and she is putting on weight, although we are still comp feeding.
