Mum's Early Birthday Quilt

I made this quilt for my mum's birthday, but decided to give it to her yesterday, as she agreed that she needed a present. It's made with Moda charm squares called ''Cherish Nature" and sashed with a Kaffe Fassett shot cotton. It's bound and backed with the perfect co-ordinated print from our favorite Darn Cheap Fabrics.

It's hand-quilted and had wool/poly batting to keep Mum warm on the couch at her beach house.

Being realistic, I made it big enough for both Mum and her dog, Maisy's Uncle Barney. No scratching the hand-quilting, Barnes!

Don't tell Mum, but I've got some matching cushion covers ready for her actual birthday!

Waiting in the Wings

This Flying Geese quilt has been in the wings for over three years. I started planning it after making my first quilt, then decided to put it aside until I had a bit more piecing experience. Now at last I'm ready to take flight!
I'm calling it the Paris Match quilt- black, red, white and oatmeal, like the magazine covers from the 1930's which are on our bedroom wall. I'll add a touch of the drapeau tricolore, although I'm still looking for the right blue.

The fabrics are a combination of cotton and cotton-linen blend, and the "wings" are a hemp-cotton blend, which Ink and Spindle use as a basecloth. I've run out of the basecloth, so I'm hoping to get my hands on some more.
