The Busy Beehive

This stunning quilt-in-progress is by the talented members of the Beehive, a Virtual Quilting Bee on Flickr. This quilt is for my beautiful Bug.

The topic is "The Busy Sea at Night", inspired by Teaginny's lovely "Busy Town" quilt. I posted some guidelines on Flickr, and the quilters have done the rest.

Each person is making two small blocks, and as they arrive I am sashing them in deep blue to make a 12" block. There will be 35 blocks in all, arranged five across, seven down, making a king single quilt.

These blocks have been made by Jo, Sheridan, Andi and me. The other Beehivers are buzzing away, and some other sweet sewing friends have offered to make a block too. We are fortunate to have a wonderful community, and I am very touched by the time and talent our friends are putting in to this special project for me and my Bug.

New phone pouch!

My phone dwells deep in the bottom of my bag. By the time I've scrabbled around to find it, it's usually stopped ringing. I've been looking for the right phone pouch tutorial, and found it at last at Amy's blog During Quiet Time. Amy's tutorial is very easy to follow, and the design is perfect.

I modified the pattern slightly due to a mishap with the scissors, and also to suit the pattern on the fabric.

It was just the right project for this Suzuko Koseki linen-cotton fabric, from my swap with LisaLittleK in Tasmania. The lovely Lecien lining fabric is from our friends at our favorite fabric shop.

Thanks Amy and Lisa!
